Managing the Message
01/22/2009 Forum Conference Center, Cleveland
Program Description:
What happens when your CEO hands you the latest “hot potato”? When an employee does something wrong? When the media is interested in your business? Or when an “investigative journalist” bursts into your office with cameras blazing and a microphone in your face? Do you have any rights? Is there any way to control the situation?
They say it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a few seconds to destroy one. In a split second you could find yourself in a position where you need to know how to handle the media or be a public spokesperson. Would you know what to do or how to respond?
This fast-paced talk by Cleveland crisis comm & media specialist Bruce Hennes will give you the tools you need to defend yourself against a press onslaught and protect the reputation of your firm. No fluff -- just an inside peek at how reporters – and television, in particular - manipulate the news.
This interactive discussion will help you:
• Gain knowledge and confidence in effectively communicating to protect the organization’s image, brand and perception internally and externally
• Know how to establish and maintain “control of the message”
• Understand how the media approaches good news, bad news and complex situation stories

Hennes, Managing Partner of Hennes Communications, a crisis communications, media training and media relations consulting firm based in Cleveland serving corporations, government agencies, nonprofits and individuals who are “on trial” in the court of public opinion. Selecting and Deploying Software for Today’s Workforce
12/11/2008 Forum Conference Center, Cleveland
Speaker: Jason Averbook, CEO Knowledge Infusion
Back by popular demand – one of the highest rated NOHRPS Speakers
In the past, software was developed for and deployed to HR departments. Today, software is developed for and deployed to entire organizations. Add the additional pressures of creating a workforce experience that matches that of Facebook or Google and HR has quite a challenge. Where today’s workforce demands a more interactive and social experience with all the web 2.0 features they have grown accustomed to, technology vendors are just beginning to embed these features into their software. In addition, many organizations fear, rather than embrace new technology simply because they are uneducated as to best practices in how to deploy and govern.
Join this session to learn best practices and trends for selecting and deploying software including:
· Changes in pricing and deployment that dramatically affect how you choose ERP vs on-demand solutions
· How to ensure successful deployment taking into account the needs of employees, managers, and different regions
· How to incorporate web 2.0 technologies like social networking, blogs and wikis into your Digital HR strategy
· How to create a cohesive employee experience with multiple applications
This program has been approved for 1.5 (Specified -Strategic ) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Please be sure to note the program ID number on your recertification application form.
